Activities
Guild members have the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities and events. Some are free and some have a nominal charge. All are optional.
These activities are all starting early in the guild year to allow guild members to participate in one, or more, or all of these activities.
Schedule of Meetings and Activities
Block of the Month (Archives) - Make a new block each month and use it in a project of your choice, or donate your block and be eligible for a draw to win the donated blocks. Patterns are provided. Note: Our monthly activity for 2025-2026 is a Quilt Along - see below
Challenges - Participate in “challenges” organized by the Programs team, and the annual President's Challenge.
Charity - Contribute to our charitable work including quilts that are donated to a variety of needy recipients - preemie quilts for the babies in the Rich Little Special Care nursery at the Ottawa Hospital, placemats for Meals on Wheels in Arnprior and in the Fitzroy Harbour and Constance Bay areas of West Carleton, items for the residents of The Grove Nursing Home in Arnprior, and quilts distributed through other charities such as Quilts of Valour Canada, and Victoria's Quilts Canada.
Fat Quarter Club - Bring a fat quarter to a meeting and be eligible for a draw to win the fat quarters
Quilt Along - Choose the fabrics for your quilt, and look forward to receiving new instructions each month to step-by-step complete your Magnificent Mystery quilt.
Quilters' Recycling Table - Have you recently done any purging or cleaning in your quilting space? Our Quilters' Recycling Table is available at most guild meetings. This is an effective way to engage in sustainable quilting practices by bringing your excess fabric, batting, tools, patterns and books to the guild’s Quilters' Recycling Table. It’s a win for everyone! If the item(s) you brought is not picked up at the meeting, you are responsible for taking it back home with you.
Retreats - Attend multi-day guild retreats for focused quilting, food and fun
Sew Days - Come on out to work on guild charity projects in the company of other guild members
Workshops - Attend workshops to learn new techniques and make interesting items
Tinners - Other guild members make blocks for you and every month you make a block for someone else. Note: Tinners is not active this 2025-2026 year. We're too focused on getting ready for our May 2025 Quilt Show!
