As we come together for our final guild meeting before the summer break, I can hardly believe how quickly this year has flown by. Looking back, we've enjoyed inspiring speakers, informative workshops, fun-filled retreats, and an outstanding quilt show that showcased the remarkable talent and creativity within our guild. Every event, gathering, and project has reminded me how fortunate we are to be part of such a welcoming and enthusiastic quilting community.
As this marks the completion of my first year as President, I want to express my sincere gratitude to all of our members for your support, encouragement, and positive feedback throughout the year. Your enthusiasm and participation are what make this guild such a special place.
I would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our Executive and committee volunteers. So much work happens "behind the quilts" to make our programs, workshops, retreats, and events successful. Your dedication, countless volunteer hours, and commitment to our guild do not go unnoticed. I am incredibly grateful for everything you do.

June Guild Meeting
When? We hope you'll join us on Wednesday June 17 for our last year of this guild year! The meeting begins at 7 pm with doors opening at 6:30 PM. This is our end of year social potluck dinner night as we celebrate the end of this amazing year for our guild. Where? 257 John Street, Arnprior Ontario (Christian Education Centre) Parking is available on the nearby streets. Please do not park in the adjacent church parking lot. Win! The meeting will feature draws for door prizes, and a Guess-the-Number of Pages book sponsored by our Library. Tickets will be sold for draws of a basket of quilting goodies, and 50-50. And you can win fat quarters if you participate in the optional Fat Quarter Club. Bring
Potluck We're asking members with surnames beginning with the letters M-Z to bring a dish to share at the potluck. It can be a main course item, appetizer, or dessert - anything you'd like to bring. To help members with dietary sensitivities, please include a list of ingredients for your dish to indicate any contents containing gluten (flour), lactose (dairy products), nuts etc. Visitors We welcome visitors to our meetings for a $5 fee payable in cash at the door. We are looking for a volunteer - or perhaps two friends who would like to share the role - to help coordinate our guild's charitable activities. This rewarding role involves organizing donations and fundraising efforts, managing and storing charity-related items such as fabric, batting, and quilts, and helping maintain our connections with community organizations.
The Charity Coordinator(s) are also members of the Executive and are asked to attend the monthly Executive meeting, held via Zoom on the Wednesday prior to each guild meeting. If you enjoy working with others and would like to help our guild continue its tradition of giving back to the community, we'd love to hear from you. Please speak with a member of the Executive for more information. Thank you to those who volunteered at the May meeting to sell the 50-50 and basket raffle tickets, to make up the baskets, and to assist Martha with various Program activities next season. We are very grateful that you'll be helping out and ensuring our excellent programming and activities continue.

Quilt Show
Our quilt show was a tremendous success, and it would not have been possible without the talent, dedication, hard work, and enthusiasm of our guild members. From creating beautiful quilts and displays to volunteering behind the scenes, every contribution helped make this event a memorable experience for our visitors and community.
We are incredibly proud of what we accomplished together and grateful for the many hours that went into making the show such a success.

After the formalities of our Annual General Meeting, we saw a lot of quilts! First up was regular Show and Tell.

And then the makers of the Colour Palette challenge quilts had an opportunity to show their projects and share their stories, many of which included how they felt about their colour palette!

After the thrill of seeing your quilts on display at our quilt show, there are other upcoming opportunities to show your quilts at local fairs throughout eastern Ontario.
Martha has been actively involved in the Homecraft division at the Carp Fair for several years and she's provided this information about entering your quilts and other projects for this year's Carp Fair the last weekend in September.
Here's the relevant information for the quilt entry classes.
Carp Fair Quilt Entries
HELPFUL REMINDERS: Check your measurements and read category carefully. Ensure names of exhibitors are not visible. Only wall hangings should have "sleeves". Note for classes 100,101,102, & 104: To be considered for OAAS, See Ontario Association of Agricultural Societies Rules and Regulations- Re: Machine Quilting and Hand Quilting. 1st and 2nd place in classes 100, 101,102, & 104 will be rejudged and a Grand Champion and a Reserve Grand Champion will be awarded. 1st: $100 2nd: $50

General Information for Exhibitors
- All entries must be registered by 8:00pm on Monday, September 21st, 2026. Entries to be made online at https://www.assistexpo.ca/carpfair or an entry form may be submitted to the Carp Fair Office.
- Exhibits are to be brought to the Exhibit Hall on Wednesday, September 23rd, 2026, from 6:00p.m. – 8:30p.m., or before 9:30a.m. on Thursday, September 24th.
- Judging takes place on Thursday, September 26th, 2026 starting at 10:00 a.m. and is closed to the public.
- Exhibits must be removed between 5:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 27th, 2026. The Carp Agricultural Society will not be responsible for exhibits left on the Society premises after 6:00p.m. on Sunday.
- Carp Fair Prize Money and Membership Admin Share - Carp Fair deducts 10% of the prize money earned.
Membership:

Kanata Quilt Guild Workshops
The Kanata Guild has asked us to share this information and invitation to attend their upcoming Terry Rowland workshops with our guild members. There is also information about the workshops in their June newsletter.

Quilt Canada 2027 Member Guild Challenge
The Canadian Quilters’ Association (CQA) has announced the Member Guild Challenge for Quilt Canada 2027, featuring the theme “GO WILD.”
The selected quilt will be exhibited at Quilt Canada 2027 in Calgary, where attendees will vote for their favourite entry. The winning quilt will receive a Viewer’s Choice Award and a cash prize.
If our guild would like to participate, we must notify CQA of our intention to enter by Feb. 1, 2027. Please let Amanda know by the end of 2026 if you are interested in submitting an entry.
Should we receive more than one submission from guild members, a vote will be held at the March guild meeting to select the quilt that will represent ADQG at Quilt Canada 2027.

Participants are invited to interpret the theme creatively, with no restrictions on fabric selection.

- Quilts must be finished with binding, facings, or an enveloped pillowcase-style edge.

- Each quilt must include a visible label showing the quilt title and guild name. Including the quilter’s name is optional.
Arnprior District High School Award
We are pleased to award our 2025 Bursary in the amount of $250 to Roman, a graduating student from Arnprior District High School. We are proud to support Roman as they continue their educational journey at the University of Ottawa, where they will be pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting. We are delighted to play a small part in supporting Roman's future education and wish them all the best as they begin this exciting new adventure.
